welcome to Scaling UP! h2o the industrial
water treaters place to celebrate
0:14.5

0:19.7
industrial water treatment week hello a
Scaling UP! nation Trace Blackboard here
0:19.7

0:24.8
and I of course am celebrating
industrial water week right along with
0:24.8

0:29.8
you and today is October 10th wastewater
Tuesday
0:29.8

0:35.5
of course wastewater is the water that
is exited at the end of a particular
0:35.5

0:41.7
process and something normally has to be
done with that so it can meet up with
0:41.7

0:48.3
other water to be cleaned up and then
put back in our water system many of us
0:48.3

0:55.9
practice wastewater but a lot of us
don’t on episodes 78 and 79 I had Kevin
0:55.9

1:04.2
cope on Scaling UP! h2o and he did a
superb job of telling us what wastewater
1:04.2

1:08.8
treatment is since that show aired
actually there was were two shows since
1:08.8

1:15.3
those two shows aired I have received a
lot of positive feedback we’re people
1:15.3

1:22.3
that just did not understand wastewater
now have a grasp of what it is and folks
1:22.3

1:28.4
when you start to understand a topic you
are now able to start learning more
1:28.4

1:32.7
about it
water treatment is the easiest industry
1:32.7

1:39.4
that I can think of where we can learn
something new each and every day so one
1:39.4

1:44.1
of the great things to do is you’re
celebrating industrial water week is to
1:44.1

1:50.1
learn something new well as we’re
celebrating industrial water week here
1:50.1

1:58.3
is Kevin cope to talk to us a little bit
from the AWT 2019 convention donation
1:58.3

2:02.0
we’re celebrating industrial water week
and today
2:02.0

2:06.9
is wastewater day and I am here at the
AWT conference of course we’re recording
2:06.9

2:12.1
this earlier we’re going to play it back
on the actual day but I have found Kevin
2:12.1

2:16.0
Koch Godfather of wastewater treatment
how are you sir
2:16.0

2:20.3
never better trace never better Gavin
how are you celebrating
2:20.3

2:24.5
Industrial Water Week and specifically
wastewater day well I can speak to the
2:24.5

2:27.2
whole week and I’ll tell you what’s
going on you guys might not be aware of
2:27.2

2:31.3
this and may not happen but I’ve been
working with James McDonald to come up
2:31.3

2:35.5
with some new graphics potentially for
each one of the days kind of well I
2:35.5

2:38.9
don’t want to give it away and he may
not you know use them but you know
2:38.9

2:43.8
different ideas to show what what
pretreatment would look like it what
2:43.8

2:46.8
wastewater would look like and so we’re
working with him on that you know
2:46.8

2:50.6
focusing on doing that so that’s kind of
the way I’m celebrating its up maybe did
2:50.6

2:55.5
a few superheroes and we’ll see what
James finally decides on but we’re in
2:55.5

2:59.4
the kind of the early stages of working
on that well very cool and of course
2:59.4

3:03.9
James McDonald we have to think because
he created industrial water week and I’m
3:03.9

3:09.3
gonna tell you there’s been a huge buzz
since episode 78 and 79 came out the
3:09.3

3:14.9
Scaling UP! Nation loves you you did such a
great job explaining what wastewater is
3:14.9

3:19.1
I mean you just painted a picture when
we were driving up to the account
3:19.1

3:23.2
everybody was able to relate with what
you were saying you did such a fantastic
3:23.2

3:28.0
job with that so I don’t think we should
sell the audience short today what are
3:28.0

3:32.6
some other tips that you might have when
it comes to wastewater well I mean it
3:32.6

3:37.2
really is a growing area for everyone um
you know we’re seeing a lot of
3:37.2

3:42.0
regulations being maybe harder and
harder I would focus in on things like
3:42.0

3:47.0
metals precipitation you know we were
seeing a lot of need in that area know
3:47.0

3:50.9
the strictures are getting getting
getting much more tighter a lot of the
3:50.9

3:54.9
new products are out there that make it
a little easier for you know doing metal
3:54.9

3:59.0
precipitation that’s a biggie um you
know some of the other things you know a
3:59.0

4:02.7
lot of do a lot of work with oil removal
what are some of the regulations if
4:02.7

4:07.8
you’re taking you know like a food-grade
oil or at a food plant making sure that
4:07.8

4:12.0
the product you’re using you’re correct
can have grass approval
4:12.0

4:16.0
things along this line so those are
probably the two big areas I’ve seen a
4:16.0

4:20.2
little bit of our o right now but
primarily I think the metals is really
4:20.2

4:25.0
one of the biggest focus there is all
right now I’ve got to know your funniest
4:25.0

4:29.0
wastewater story do we do this on the
episode last time we did not we did not
4:29.0

4:36.3
we we may we did I I this is the only
one that is I’ve been doing this for 41
4:36.3

4:41.8
years and I always make the comment that
you can every plant is the same with the
4:41.8

4:48.0
exceptional one and it was at a railroad
in Norfolk West Virginia and I got down
4:48.0

4:53.0
there and there were if you can picture
eight sand filters open top sand filters
4:53.0

4:57.4
and down and the four on either side and
on the center was a conveyor belt that
4:57.4

5:01.8
was about a foot off the sand filter on
one end and about seven eight feet off
5:01.8

5:05.9
the top of the filter on the other end
and they would put the water in in the
5:05.9

5:09.1
water and percolate down through the
sand filters and it would leave an oily
5:09.1

5:14.2
waste on the top and then the operators
had to go in with shovels and dig the
5:14.2

5:18.6
oil off the top of these sand footers
and it was a gooey mess and they would
5:18.6

5:22.4
take these shovels and I’m doing with my
hands take these shovels and put the oil
5:22.4

5:27.7
up on this conveyor about right so I
make the comment at the very last one
5:27.7

5:31.5
now it’s like seven eight feet off that
off the top of the thing I said what are
5:31.5

5:35.6
you gonna hire the Lakers to come and
clean these ones up to this day it was
5:35.6

5:40.5
the craziest application I’ve never seen
anything remotely close to that and it
5:40.5

5:44.7
turned out it’s a guy who designed it
was not very happy with the company and
5:44.7

5:49.9
his reef was resigning and retiring and
he designed this plant it was a mess it
5:49.9

5:54.1
was a mess it didn’t even last three
months they thought I’d install so yeah
5:54.1

5:59.2
that’s a true story and to this day it’s
still the funniest application I’ve ever
5:59.2

6:04.1
seen well and speaking of this day this
day is actually your birthday so happy
6:04.1

6:08.3
birthday it’s the day we’re interviewing
about the north or water well thank you
6:08.3

6:12.7
very much so well thanks so much for
talking with us and I’m sure we’re gonna
6:12.7

6:16.4
be hearing more from you on Scaling UP!
h2o appreciate it have a great day trace
6:16.4

6:22.1
nation AWT recognizes people in the
industry that
6:22.1

6:29.9
have contributed in one way or another
with awards and one of the awards that
6:29.9

6:35.3
is given out every year is a WT
recognises the supplier of the year and
6:35.3

6:43.3
the supplier of the year this year is
Matt for eg of HC info nation I’m here
6:43.3

6:49.5
with Award winner Matt for eg of HCM fo
Matt you just accepted the supplier of
6:49.5

6:54.5
the Year award for a WT last night tell
us a little bit about that award well
6:54.5

6:57.8
for our whole team we were really happy
about it the award of course was not
6:57.8

7:03.1
just for me it was for all of each CFO
and we have a team of about ten people
7:03.1

7:08.0
were still small but everybody has
contributed so much to it and honestly a
7:08.0

7:13.6
WT members themselves have helped us a
lot not just in using the software but
7:13.6

7:17.2
so many of them have taken the time to
give us really thoughtful
7:17.2

7:22.3
recommendations about add this to it or
or make a change to it and we’ve
7:22.3

7:26.3
implemented almost all of those
recommendations so I felt like it was a
7:26.3

7:32.3
real like a lot of folks participated in
it well I want to let you know that so
7:32.3

7:36.5
many people and the Scaling UP! nation
have contacted me and said how much your
7:36.5

7:42.2
episode has helped them understand that
it’s not this huge task that is
7:42.2

7:44.5
unmanageable
if you truly know what you’re looking
7:44.5

7:47.8
for it is manageable so thank you for
helping the Scaling UP! nation with that
7:47.8

7:54.0
thank you Trace well Matt of course was a
guest on Scaling UP! h2o he was episode
7:54.0

8:01.1
83 where he was talking about
legionellosis prevention plans as I
8:01.1

8:05.7
mentioned earlier this week one of the
activities that’s at the association of
8:05.7

8:10.0
Water Technologies is the young
professional happy hour so here’s
8:10.0

8:15.8
another person that I interviewed during
that time batmanning you’re here at the
8:15.8

8:20.8
young professional happy hour you are on
the young professionals Council that we
8:20.8

8:24.4
just did a seminar with what do you
think about that would you get from it I
8:24.4

8:28.2
had a lot of fun with it that was my
little 15 seconds of fame I guess with
8:28.2

8:32.2
the AWT and being my first conference
just getting the exposure and taking it
8:32.2

8:35.5
all in spent a lot of fun for me
surround a lot of knowledge so
8:35.5

8:39.4
I enjoy and hopefully people that were
there got something out of our responses
8:39.4

8:43.5
and kind of get into the way our minds
are working being the younger generation
8:43.5

8:47.0
that’s entering the industry so so what
advice do you have for somebody that’s
8:47.0

8:52.1
listening that is younger and maybe this
is the first time that they’re coming to
8:52.1

8:56.1
a convention or they’re thinking about
coming next year yeah yeah use your
8:56.1

9:00.3
resources put yourself out there
go shake hands you know everybody around
9:00.3

9:04.4
here wants to share their knowledge and
that’s pretty obvious so just go out
9:04.4

9:07.6
shake hands say hi introduce yourself
and don’t be scared to talk to somebody
9:07.6

9:10.7
and pick their brain you know while
you’re here so I’m learning as much as I
9:10.7

9:14.8
came along here so that is great advice
now what are you going to do to
9:14.8

9:19.0
celebrate industrial water week I’m
gonna be servicing all my accounts and
9:19.0

9:22.1
enjoying it so I don’t know if I’ll be
doing anything in particular but just
9:22.1

9:25.2
taking care of customers so maybe listen
to some Scaling UP! episodes definitely
9:25.2

9:28.3
there you go I always enjoy that get a
lot of glass time in the job so having
9:28.3

9:31.8
the podcast is great so yeah well
awesome thanks for chatting with us
9:31.8

9:37.9
folks I got to tell you I was so
flattered when I spoke with Pat Pat has
9:37.9

9:43.7
done work with some major league
baseball teams and he told me that he
9:43.7

9:49.4
was more excited to meet me than some of
these major league baseball players so
9:49.4

9:53.0
Pat you obviously don’t have your
priorities in order
9:53.0

9:58.1
but I really appreciate you saying that
and it was really good getting to know
9:58.1

10:04.7
you and that was on a panel that the
young professionals had to help other
10:04.7

10:11.2
people in the industry understand the
Millennial mindset and that was headed
10:11.2

10:17.6
up by Michelle farmerie who you will
hear from tomorrow but I just love that
10:17.6

10:22.1
the association of Water Technologies
tries to find an issue that we’re all
10:22.1

10:28.3
dealing with out there and then try to
find a way to connect people to talk
10:28.3

10:36.0
through the solution also at this happy
hour I ran into my friend ty Thomas I
10:36.0

10:40.7
just found my buddy ty Thomas with steam
co-taught you and I see each other every
10:40.7

10:42.3
week we go to the same church I know
it’s
10:42.3

10:47.0
pretty crazy though and now we’re seeing
out each other here in Palm Springs this
10:47.0

10:49.3
isn’t your first convention what are
some of the things that you’re seeing
10:49.3

10:54.2
well I’m seeing a lot more young people
which is good so obviously the
10:54.2

10:58.7
Legionella talk is picked up so I really
excited about that learned a lot on the
10:58.7

11:01.8
Legionella side of things and water
management plans so that’s what I’m most
11:01.8

11:07.9
excited about now what are some of the
common things you’re hearing people talk
11:07.9

11:12.3
about here as you’re walking about the
convention I mean the deputies expanded
11:12.3

11:16.0
so much so you know the training aspect
of things has got so much better the
11:16.0

11:20.0
classes you know I hadn’t been the one
in a few years so I thought the classes
11:20.0

11:23.7
have developed a lot a lot more you and
that portion is pretty good yeah the
11:23.7

11:29.9
math portion you know yeah long division
is good not really my thing thank God
11:29.9

11:35.0
for calculators but yeah so but I’ve
really enjoyed just mixing it up with
11:35.0

11:38.5
these young professionals honestly you
know so I feel like I’m so young in the
11:38.5

11:43.8
industry and love just seeing these guys
and some guys I’d seen a long time so
11:43.8

11:47.6
I’m excited to see them and bounce
things off of them so yeah most people I
11:47.6

11:51.9
speak with say that the networking is
the biggest part about being here oh no
11:51.9

11:53.9
question
we have a company and I get to ask these
11:53.9

11:57.0
guys you know about hiring that’s
probably the biggest thing we struggle
11:57.0

12:01.6
with so hiring training these guys so
because I mean being a small company
12:01.6

12:06.4
training can be tough sometimes so and
just where they’re finding their their
12:06.4

12:11.5
workforce that is a huge advantage and
getting these guys opinions and how they
12:11.5

12:15.9
do it and that’s great tide now I want
to know how are you going to be
12:15.9

12:20.0
celebrating industrial water week I
think I’ll probably you trying to take
12:20.0

12:23.3
my guys out to maybe do it out of me
yeah maybe top golf or something like
12:23.3

12:25.1
that
just to show that we appreciate them and
12:25.1

12:29.6
that it’s a big deal so you know we
appreciate you know you and James
12:29.6

12:33.6
McDonald creating this week for it was
all James it was all has nothing to do
12:33.6

12:37.1
with all James so we appreciate that and
you know give us a little recognition
12:37.1

12:43.4
because we like pretty humble in the
water treatment industry yes
12:43.8

12:49.5
always good document appreciate race
folks I’m know I’ve told you the story
12:49.5

12:56.3
of an individual that called me and said
that they never talked to anybody that
12:56.3

13:01.2
they considered competition and because
of this show they now befriended
13:01.2

13:05.9
somebody that lives close to them and
they are now good friends and they
13:05.9

13:10.9
understand the same issues that they are
going through well folks tie lives right
13:10.9

13:15.8
down the street from me we compete with
each other but we are friends so there
13:15.8

13:21.3
right there there is evidence that that
can happen and as you found out in this
13:21.3

13:27.2
episode Ty and I attend the same church
so we we come above the fact that we are
13:27.2

13:31.8
in competition we realize that we are in
the same industry and working together
13:31.8

13:38.2
we can make that industry better the
next person that I spoke with is one of
13:38.2

13:42.7
my best friends his name is Mark Lewis I
know you’ve heard me speak about him on
13:42.7

13:49.4
the podcast in fact he had his own
episodes too in fact episodes 31 and a
13:49.4

13:57.3
34 mark has been extremely supportive in
this podcast I throw a lot of ideas that
13:57.3

14:03.9
I have to him and he helps me figure out
the best way to do things and Mark and I
14:03.9

14:09.2
met in Palm Springs I don’t know how
many years ago when we were in Palm
14:09.2

14:15.6
Springs three times ago so that would
have been 2004 I believe that was when I
14:15.6

14:21.8
met mark Lewis I told you on an earlier
episode that Jay farmerie and I had us
14:21.8

14:29.6
doing some work together and Mark and I
met from that since that time mark and I
14:29.6

14:36.6
have become great friends and here is
Mark Lewis mark Lewis CWT how are you
14:36.6

14:41.3
celebrating industrial water week I’m
gonna celebrate with a cocktail can you
14:41.3

14:46.4
say that I did are you just did so
something that everybody and the
14:46.4

14:51.0
Scaling UP! nation needs to know a tip
from Mark Lewis what do you have well I
14:51.0

14:54.1
would say just because you get a number
it’s got to be a number that you can
14:54.1

14:58.3
believe in and exist
whatever you do don’t just run a test
14:58.3

15:03.1
and say that’s the number because that’s
the number it is so trust but verify
15:03.1

15:07.8
all right so no that’s why you’re
running the test and then know what the
15:07.8

15:12.5
test is telling you after you run it
absolutely thanks mark and of course if
15:12.5

15:19.7
you know Mark Lewis you know he is ready
to come back on Scaling UP! h2o so he and
15:19.7

15:24.8
I are working on a few things that he is
going to come back on the show for so
15:24.8

15:31.1
look forward to that
upcoming episode folks I had so many
15:31.1

15:36.3
wonderful people come up to me and let
me know that this show meant something
15:36.3

15:42.0
to them I am so appreciative for that as
I’ve said before I am just in front of a
15:42.0

15:48.0
microphone in my studio here in Atlanta
Georgia but when the thousands of people
15:48.0

15:54.3
that I hear from come up to me and say
that they really enjoy this show that
15:54.3

15:58.9
makes me know that this show is
worthwhile and what I’m doing is making
15:58.9

16:02.9
a difference so I really appreciate
everybody that has told me that and
16:02.9

16:08.2
everybody that has given me something to
do a show about or interview because
16:08.2

16:13.1
that keeps it going as you know I am
always scared that I am going to run out
16:13.1

16:18.2
of material we’re over a hundred
episodes in and thankfully that has not
16:18.2

16:23.0
happened yet but it hasn’t happened yet
because of the fine people out there in
16:23.0

16:28.0
the Scaling UP! nation now the next
person I want to tell you about she
16:28.0

16:32.4
wouldn’t interview with me she was a
little shy but she told me she
16:32.4

16:38.3
absolutely loved Scaling UP! h2o she said
it was one of her favorite things to do
16:38.3

16:44.3
each and every week to listen to the
podcast and when she came up to me and
16:44.3

16:51.0
introduced herself she told me that she
had no idea that I was so tall now I’m 6
16:51.0

16:56.6
4 and when she told me she had no idea
that I was so tall I asked her do I
16:56.6

17:00.9
found shorter on the podcast
and she really didn’t know what to do
17:00.9

17:05.6
with that comment but we had a nice
conversation and folks just thanks again
17:05.6

17:11.2
for listening to the show and if you do
want to do me a favor I know there are
17:11.2

17:16.7
so many other industrial water traders
out there that don’t know that we have a
17:16.7

17:21.6
podcast that is just for us just like
there are people out there that don’t
17:21.6

17:28.5
know that we have a holiday just for the
industrial water treater so I would love
17:28.5

17:33.0
it if you could share the message that
we do have a podcast we do have a
17:33.0

17:38.5
holiday and let people know how they can
download that and get Scaling UP! to them
17:38.5

17:42.1
each and every week
well now we have a few more interviews
17:42.1

17:48.7
that I did at the AWT Convention so I
hope you enjoy those so I’m walking
17:48.7

17:53.0
through the exhibit hall I just found
Tom cast of aqua laboratories Tom you
17:53.0

17:58.5
listen to Scaling UP! h2o you’re also
celebrating industrial water week so one
17:58.5

18:03.9
thing I want to know is why you like
Scaling UP! h2o so much and then also
18:03.9

18:06.0
what are you doing to celebrate
industrial water week
18:06.0

18:10.1
well first Scaling UP! h2o is so
phenomenal because we spend a lot of
18:10.1

18:14.5
time in the car and actually I dropped
off my daughter recently at college in
18:14.5

18:19.8
Pennsylvania and I had a six-hour ride
back and I listened to three podcasts on
18:19.8

18:23.5
the way back and just you know the ride
went quick and boy my knowledge was so
18:23.5

18:27.3
much more so great experience and keep
them coming well I appreciate that
18:27.3

18:30.9
and what about industrial Water Week
well you know it’s just an important
18:30.9

18:33.9
part of you know celebrating our
industry and I think it’s having these
18:33.9

18:36.7
milestones about industrial auto week is
a you know it’s just a great way to
18:36.7

18:40.1
celebrate what we do as an industry
awesome well thanks for chatting with us
18:40.1

18:44.8
you’re welcome
I mean with Doug freiza of Qualicum and
18:44.8

18:50.1
you guys are exhibiting here at the 2019
AWT conference I’m curious what are some
18:50.1

18:52.5
of the things that you’re telling the
members that are coming through your
18:52.5

18:56.2
booth well trace most of the things that
we’re looking at is one of our great
18:56.2

19:00.2
expansions here we have several plants
on the East Coast now we’re expanding
19:00.2

19:04.5
the west coast just outside of Reno
Nevada and we think we’re going to be
19:04.5

19:09.2
able to bring a lot of quality blending
to the industry out here and technical
19:09.2

19:12.7
support so we’re all excited the show
has been excellent for us
19:12.7

19:18.1
a lot of good qualified people that want
to talk to us and and you know partner
19:18.1

19:22.4
with us to expand their their reach well
awesome we appreciate you sharing that
19:22.4

19:24.4
with the Scaling UP! nation well thank
you
19:24.4

19:30.1
I’m here with Mark Peabody of Peabody
engineering and you’ve got a lot of cool
19:30.1

19:33.3
new things that you’re offering this
year tell us about them yeah we sure do
19:33.3

19:38.5
thanks for coming by we we try to stay
ahead of the curve on new innovations
19:38.5

19:42.8
and every year we come out with some new
products keep people excited about what
19:42.8

19:47.3
we have to offer so this year we came
out with a new pump enclosure it’s the
19:47.3

19:52.3
pcs plus it’s a to pump enclosure that
you can install a couple of pumps a
19:52.3

19:56.9
controller and all of your piping in one
secured and closed deal that’s going to
19:56.9

20:00.7
save you from the weather and keep your
pump secure and also gives you the spill
20:00.7

20:05.8
containment we’re also introducing our
new ultrasonic level sensor that is
20:05.8

20:09.5
programmed on the circuit board for all
of our tanks so it automatically
20:09.5

20:13.6
calibrates from a menu for every tank no
math no math you don’t have to be a
20:13.6

20:17.5
rocket scientist you just select the
tank and it it does the rest of the work
20:17.5

20:21.1
for you well awesome I’m curious what
are some of the questions what are some
20:21.1

20:23.8
of the comments that you’re getting from
people as they’re walking by your booth
20:23.8

20:28.2
well people that come by normally have
positive things to say they like our
20:28.2

20:33.0
innovation the fact that we respond to
the market requirements you know the
20:33.0

20:36.6
best thing about the trade shows is
people come and they tell us what the
20:36.6

20:42.1
pain points are and it’s our passion to
identify those pain points and to devise
20:42.1

20:45.7
solutions for those so that’s what our
focus is every year and we’ve already
20:45.7

20:48.7
got some great ideas from this show for
what we’re gonna introduce next year I
20:48.7

20:51.9
love this you guys do that mark
everybody wants to know how you are
20:51.9

20:56.1
going to celebrate industrial water
treatment week well what I’m gonna do is
20:56.1

21:01.4
I’m gonna get some ultra pure water and
make some wonderful ice cubes and I’m
21:01.4

21:04.6
gonna mix some really amazing adult
beverages and I’m gonna cheer with my
21:04.6

21:07.0
friends well there you go to each his
own that sounds like a great way to
21:07.0

21:11.5
celebrate thanks so much for chatting
with us thank you trace Skylab nation
21:11.5

21:16.2
I’m here with Laurie McPherson of wall
Kim Laurie this is a beautiful booth
21:16.2

21:18.7
you’re showing a whole bunch of cool
stuff tell the nation what you’re
21:18.7

21:22.6
showing them well we’ve got a new
enterprise server application that’s
21:22.6

21:25.7
included for free when you get our
controllers they
21:25.7

21:30.9
gives you a beautiful dashboard setup
that’s easy to put in your customers and
21:30.9

21:35.6
their facilities and their controllers
so that they can send alarms that can be
21:35.6

21:40.7
acknowledged if they’re not acknowledged
they can escalate up and you can look at
21:40.7

21:45.6
it and drill down into the data look at
what it’s done for the last day or week
21:45.6

21:51.2
or three months if you want to so it’s a
nice clean server application that lets
21:51.2

21:56.0
you view all your controllers see what’s
an alarm and drill into the data when
21:56.0

22:00.3
you need to see what’s causing the alarm
connect through to the controllers if
22:00.3

22:06.2
necessary and it’s just a nice clean
look for getting a overview of
22:06.2

22:09.6
everything going on in your territory
well there you go making the information
22:09.6

22:13.5
that we already have easier to retrieve
and do something with now the question
22:13.5

22:17.7
everybody wants to know is how are you
going to be celebrating Industrial
22:17.7

22:22.6
Atwater week I will be calling on
customers to talk about treating their
22:22.6

22:26.2
industrial water with wall cam
controllers there you go great answers
22:26.2

22:31.7
thanks for chatting with us Lorie so
sorry Heinemann is right here with me we
22:31.7

22:36.9
are celebrating industrial Water Week
and I want to know how you got involved
22:36.9

22:40.6
in industrial water treatment I
basically went to recruit her and they
22:40.6

22:43.8
told me about Nalco
and I started working for them in 1975
22:43.8

22:51.9
and how have things changed since 1975
to 2019 well I retired from now go and
22:51.9

22:56.9
now I own my own company you know then
precision water for 18 years so enjoy
22:56.9

23:01.1
starting back out a little bit now my
son’s working for me but eventually
23:01.1

23:05.3
someday he’ll retires well always good
talking with you Charlie thank you I
23:05.3

23:12.5
just stopped by the luminol tribution
walk and Shawn what are you showing to
23:12.5

23:17.2
the AWC audience so typically were the
ATP company but as of last year we’ve
23:17.2

23:21.6
acquired a company that does specializes
in qpcr they were called instant labs so
23:21.6

23:25.5
we’ve taken their their background in
food safety and brought into the
23:25.5

23:30.6
industrial sector so what we’ve got is a
new qPCR device that’s targeting I guess
23:30.6

23:33.7
for AWT Legionella pneumophila
Legionella species would be the big
23:33.7

23:36.6
targets but we have a number of other
targets and a device that can do
23:36.6

23:41.3
multiple samples at the same time
so we’re promoting field kits you can do
23:41.3

23:45.4
the test on-site or we can supply your
lab to allow you to do high throughput
23:45.4

23:49.5
testing at a home base and we’ve got
sample preservation kits here as well so
23:49.5

23:53.1
if your field wants to ship samples into
your central lab we can preserve the DNA
23:53.1

23:57.1
so that it won’t change during shipping
well very cool thanks for sharing that
23:57.1

24:03.0
with us no problem nation it’s hard to
believe that industrial water week is
24:03.0

24:06.9
almost over
we’re just ending up our Thursday
24:06.9

24:13.5
episode that means we have one episode
left so join me tomorrow when we are
24:13.5

24:18.5
going to be celebrating careers Friday
