- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2023This is great book for any volleyball coach. There are so many coaching books out there, but barely any for volleyball.
My only critique is that the author overuses exclamation points :)

- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2022Max Out Mindset is an amazing read! The strategies in this book are perfect for anyone in any setting. The amount of people Dr. Widman has helped in his career is incredible and this book just adds to it! He was an incredible asset to our team in college and I am so glad he wrote this book, so he could help so many others! This book and Dr. Widman himself have helped my mindset in college as well as my life after college. Highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020I'm a football Coach and a lifelong learner. My mission is to max out the potential of my student-athletes. While many focus on the physical and tactical training of their athletes, or the improvement of personal skill sets to perform a job, I've learned that to reach elite levels of performance in young athletes, or myself, the mind must be trained as well. Using Doc Widman's ingredients to an Elite Mindset, that are incredibly well presented in his book, we have transformed our high school team's mindset to becoming more Elite. That transformation over the last several years has led to two straight State Championship appearances, and a State title this year. This wouldn't have been achieved without the mental training we've adopted detailed in this book. The tools that Doc Widman presents provide the roadmap in building that mindset within our team, coaching staff, and myself. His stories, experiences, and practical applications make it an easy read, and the same information can be communicated to our athletes in the journey to max-out our team's mindset and performance. These tools not only work in team dynamics, but in life. Many of our players consistently practice these tools on a daily basis which is quite incredible for teenagers. As a team, we were able to perform physically and mentally when it mattered the most and that is truly the benchmark of achieving a Max Out Mindset. Thank you Doc for sharing your wisdom for our benefit. You have truly made a difference in our program and lives.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2020I just completed the book, Max Out Mindset, by Dr. Larry Widman and felt the need to write this 5 star review! This book is for anyone wanting to improve themselves, their team, or their business and develop an elite mindset. For the average person like myself, I found the very first chapter on Goal Setting to be especially relevant. I love Dr. Widman’s explanation of self-talk and how that completely changes ones mindset. (both negative and positive talk) He moves on to Chapter 2 and focuses on Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a hot topic currently and he discusses the importance of people being in the present which makes the difference in a person or athlete being average or elite. But my most favorite parts of the book are his plentiful personal stories and examples of well known athletes and elite performers that he has worked with and had a direct impact on their successes! The Division 1 NCAA championship athletes and teams that he has helped to achieve goals of National Championships, Conference Championships, and professional careers is fascinating! One of the most important parts of this book is that Dr. Widman doesn’t just explain his strategies, but at the end of each chapter, there are specific exercises, or suggestions, one can use to achieve the goals and ideas discussed. These will help a person or team achieve this elite mindset within teams, leadership, self-improvement and coaching. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to be elite in their career or profession.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2020I was looking for something to stimulate my work performance when I found Max Out Mindset by Dr. Widman. Not being much for self help books and their over used platitudes I didn't hold out much hope. But when I saw his connection to several high performing sports teams I thought I would give it a read. The strategies that Dr. Widman lays out are really easy to implement. I found myself using them during my commute to structure my plan for success and even sharing them with my work team. My experience with sports has shown me that it's the brain, not the brawn that creates elite performance and the Max Out Mindset helped me focus on the things that create the biggest impact. 5 stars from me.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020If you lead teams or are on teams that are committed to high performance, this book is exceptional. It has practical application to the business world, with the sports and real life examples we all can relate to. I would say it's not just teams, however. I found the lessons in this book often spoke directly to me as an individual in my day to day leadership role and in my personal life. I am lucky enough to know Dr. Widman from my work in healthcare. As great as he is in his work, he is a better person, and as this book proves, an exceptional writer as well!
