Daniel Bauer's thinking about leadership, school, and life is long overdue in our profession--and it's like nothing you've ever seen. If you're looking for new energy, new ideas, and new inspiration, you'll find exactly what you need in The Better Leaders Better Schools Roadmap. Daniel's "small ideas that lead to big impact" reflect his wide reading, fresh thinking, and deep connections with innovative leaders across industries. --Dr. Justin Baeder, author of Now We're Talking! 21 Days to High-Performance Instructional Leadership and director of The Principal Center
Danny's upbeat voice comes through loud and clear in this easy to read, supportive book full of strategies and tips for how to become a better leader. The text is straightforward, the author's voice is authentic and down to earth, and the ideas are truly useful. Thank you, Danny, for helping us once again to become better leaders for our schools and our systems.
--Jennifer Abrams, consultant, speaker, and author of Having Hard Conversations
There's a reason people write manifestos, and The Better Leaders Better Schools Roadmap is an absolute throw down of what we all should be doing in our schools. Danny Bauer pulls on his almost two decades of experience as an educator and lays out the framework with a call to action for anyone working with kids. This book is a must-read, and I know will be a treasured gem for years to come!
--Adam Welcome, author, speaker, educator, family, marathoner
In The Better Leaders Better Schools Roadmap, Danny gives educators a clear road map toward success in schools as each section provides practical steps to engage in the work of leadership. He links relevant books, research, and voices from the field via his popular Better Leader Better Schools podcast so you can take the learning even further. From developing a culture to setting boundaries, Danny puts his heart and soul into each word--a must-read for all educators.
--Jessica Cabeen, nationally distinguished principal, author of Hacking Early Learning, co-author of Balance Like a Pirate
Written by one of the finest educational leaders I know, it is both a personal manifesto about what schools are for and a professional resource for anyone interested in becoming a better leader or improving the education profession. This unique book is well written and makes a compelling case not only for why we must make changes in our schools, but also what and how to change. Each chapter is an inspirational call to action that closes with specific and helpful "Next Steps" readers can take to make a difference in their own personal and professional growth as well as the students and colleagues they serve.
--Jeffrey Zoul, EdD, author, speaker, leadership coach, and president of ConnectEDD

After reading The Better Leaders Better Schools, I was inspired to take action right away. Bauer’s manifesto challenges every leader to be the best they can be with both actions to take right away and long-term big ideas to drive your own leadership. Immediately following my first read of the book (yes, I’ve already read it twice), I implemented the Bauer’s journaling technique and it has already improved my focus and approach to my days. In the bigger picture, Bauer has inspired me to think about my why and what I have to offer in a deeper and more meaningful way - and to use that to start making my own Roadmap!

If you are familiar with Bauer’s successful podcasts, you will be pleased to find that his tone in the book is identical to his tone on the podcasts. He consistently gives the reader and listener his truest self, flaws and all, in an honest and conversational tone. His approachability drew me to the book, and his fresh ideas left me wanting more.

There have been few authors whose works have shaped who I am as a leader - Bambrick-Santoyo, Lemov. Bauer is a definite addition to this short list. This book challenged who I am as a leader, and left me wanting to be the best leader I can be. An inspiring read for new leaders, veteran leaders, and inspiring readers alike.

(Read the whole review) If I'm going to be honest, I felt the first quarter of the book lacked originality and felt like it was a sales pitch to join his mastermind. Yet, something had me hooked. So much so that I finished it in a couple days. Ultimately, the book presents Danny's journey as an educational leader and who some of the biggest influences were/are in his journey. The book does have tangible guidelines however, I believe the "roadmap" is more a series of questions for the reader to ponder to take his experiences and implement them in your own school or organization. This is a very easy ready and well worth it. I believe this is a book for all levels of educators but also present meaningful nuggets for all leaders, not just education.

If you've been in education a while, you know that there are some individuals, almost renegades, who are beginning to create waves in the ocean of educational thought. Daniel Bauer is one of those individuals.

What you'll find in this easy read is challenging and inspirational.

The average school principal will find a very different mindset presented by Bauer. That principal will be called to think about his/her current practices and reflect on the "why" of it all.

For other school principals, you'll find comfort in the transparency Bauer provides. He shares the mistakes he's made, and even ways he could have prevented them. You'll be pushed in your thinking to become a more intentional, goal-oriented administrator for both your staff and your students.

Bauer says it all in the subtitle: small ideas that lead to BIG IMPACT. Take your time in reading this. Let it soak into you. Re-read it before every school year. And then write your own roadmap!

With all the books, articles, podcasts, and other media noise out there scrambling for the attention of educaitonal leaders in the schools and classrooms, it takes a special book with an authentic voice to stand out and be different. This book, Better Leaders Better Schools, stands out. So much of leadership literature is outside in. Danny Bauer's take goes from the inside out. It connects with me in much the same way as The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People does. The book challenges educational leaders to take care of themselves, love others, collaborate and build success. Danny offers many specific ways to achieve excellence. I enjoy Danny's book as I enjoy his podcast. He is authentically from the heart and the passion and joy that he finds in developing powerful leadership in others is captured in his book as well. Please read. Enjoy it. Learn from it.

I loved the Better Leaders Better Schools Road Map. I began listening to the Better Leaders Better Schools in 2015 and have been hooked on Danny’s content since. The passion and knowledge that he brings to what he does even drew me into the Mastermind a little over a year ago. I could write a book based on all the little nuggets that I’ve learned from him and my Mastermind colleagues (lightbulb), but I won’t do that here, all you need to know is that I am a better leader because of Danny’s vision and action.

BLBS is a must read for any school leader. It's real. It's practical. It just makes sense to use a Roadmap. Bauer applies the Golden Rule to leadership which one would think would be common knowledge. If you have been in education for any length of time this book will remind you why you are in it. Excellent quick read!

This is my favorite book for this year, and a MUST read if you teach at any level, I don't just mean school teachers, I mean teaching in general!

This book, Daniel will share with you the methods, strategies, and processes of modern teaching. What I learned the most from this book is teaching should be modern, fun, exciting, with one main goal which is to enhance your students self-development in all areas; in and out the classroom. The only way you can teach others is by developing yourself on how you become a better person/teacher by providing value to the people you are teaching, and as result, you will be a better leader!

Thank you, Daniel, for writing this book and for being a brilliant mentor, by teaching me the core principles of being a better teacher and better leader!

As a leader on a continuous journey to improve, I really appreciated Danny's book. Not only does he provide some great advice and useful resources, but he manages to make some sense out of the craziness of school leadership.

While reading his book, I realized that some of it I already knew (confirmation), some of it I hadn't even thought of (realization), and that some of it brought me back down to earth (affirmation). But overall, it inspired me to want to do more, to want to be more: to be a better leader.

Danny's book does indeed provide a roadmap for any person looking for ways to improve upon their leadership skills. I will definitely be recommending The Better Leaders Better Schools Roadmap to all leaders.

    Thanks Danny!
