The system in his book has presented a methodology that is not different simply for the sake of being different. Revenue Growth Engine has given me an actual plan developed from his work with over 1,000 businesses that is able to be implemented throughout my organization.
The interconnected strategies of growing net new business while cultivating current customers are shown in a way that I've not seen before. The practical action steps from each chapter are designed to be put into practice immediately and to get the revenue engine of my business running smoothly. The chapter on Building an Outcomes Inventory alone is worth the investment in this book.

The big theme for me was connection, and I noticed a lot of my highlights and notes were centered around that. I thought about how often the vendors I do business with do not seek to increase that connection with me and how often I would appreciate them doing so.
I think this would be a great book for anyone in a revenue generating position, especially the small business owner attempting to grow their market share. If you implement Darryl’s program, I am confident you’d differentiate yourself from the competition.

The author has skillfully compiled 3-5 common best practices and emphasizes them throughout the book. It's a helpful reminder of what works in sales, and the summaries are especially useful for those who prefer to skip through the case studies and stories. I do wish there were more on the Revenue Growth aspect, not just as a metaphor for go-sales planning. I speak now of more CRO-like strategies, tools, tactics, and infrastructures.
I found the audiobook to be an enjoyable "read", as it allowed me to cover more material in less time and bookmark a few key ideas. However, I do think it's important to note that this book is aimed more towards new salespeople or those just starting out in leadership roles. If you have already extensively read sales literature from experts such as Seth Godin, Donald Miller, Robert Cialdini, HubSpot blogs, 6Sense white papers, or have studied with professors like Peter Fader (Customer Centricity, 2011), then this book may not offer much new information.
Despite that, I still highly recommend this book to anyone new to sales, as it covers a lot of time-honored sales wisdom in one convenient location. It's an excellent starting point for anyone just beginning their journey in the sales world. So, if you're a new sales leader or a new salesperson, I urge you to pick up a copy and give it a read.

I am the business manager of a small medical marketing company, my son's dog training company and my wife's salon. I have an MBA and tons of experience in all things business, but I'm always learning. Now it's time to take my son's dog training biz, which is exploding, to a whole new level with his marketing. I (kinda) had an idea of where to go with it all, but it's just me and a few ad agencies doing what I tell them. THIS BOOK is giving me the larger framework and marketing/sales strategy that I was missing. It seems like all these guru's want to talk about their ONE thing, but this author is showing me that I had some of the pieces of the puzzle, but now I am seeing how they all fit together. Why is no one talking about the larger strategy of marketing? I love this book! I needed this!

Darrell Amy has a strong following and clearly has years of expereince in growing businesses to scale. This experience he has brilliantly translated into his latest book Revenue Growth Engine.
For me this is the most relevant book to have been released on sales this year. Businesses want to scale and grow and using Darrell's straight forward Growth Engine Model, it is clear to see where your starting point for growth comes from and potentially where things could be falling down. The model explains how sales and marketing can really work together to create significant wins. One area is understanding you ideal customer profile, this is done with a clever set of defining questions that any business can apply and get results from.
The layout of the book makes it easy to read, simple to take on principles and most important highly applicable this latter point is covered clearly at the end of each of the 15 chapters with an 'important points' section. So many authors fail to do this, and yet by having it in the book, helps you as the reader to remember and apply the skills.
For anyone in business whether it is their own, or if they head the commercial side of an organisation, Revenue Growth Engine can make a significant difference to the money you make. The skills in this workbook can be applied over time and the book can be used as a constant companion and source of reference and record for your progress.

I had Darrell's book on pre-order for a while and raced through it in just a few days, so I would recommend anybody in a client facing role, either management or individual contributor to read it. To break down how one can align sales and marketing but also the 8 Cylinders of growth adds a scientific approach to a discipline otherwise considered artistic. A book that I will keep going back to and refreshing myself on because the content will stand the test of time. Great read.
