Review

“Managing your time is a lot like managing your money. It’s not about the numbers; it’s about your behavior. The best time-management tricks in the world won’t do you much good if they don’t actually make your life better. In Procrastinate on Purpose, Rory builds on what we’ve all heard about time management and adds the two things that have always been missing: emotion and significance.”
Dave Ramsey, New York Times bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio show host

"A brilliant insight turned into an actionable method. Start now!"
—Seth Godin, author of Linchpin

"The thing I love about Rory Vaden’s books is that long before he writes about principles, he lives them. If you've ever thought, ‘I wish I had more time,’ read the great principles in this book. And then I dare you to do what Rory does: live them."
—Jon Acuff, New York Times bestselling author of Start and Quitter

"We all wish we had more time. It turns out we have plenty to spare. In
Procrastinate on Purpose, Rory Vaden shows us how to take our time back and sets us free from the shackles of tired time management techniques."
—Ken Coleman, author of One Question and host of The EntreLeadership podcast

Best Book of The Year

Best Book of The Year
This book is fantastic, to say the least. I say it like it is and this book is no doubt one of the best I've ever read. First off, Rory is the real deal. He lives what he teaches and applies what he knows. When I look for authors to follow and learn from, I look for people who walk the walk. Second, Rory is authentic. How is he authentic? He's authentic in his messages and knowledge; he's authentic in his self-disclosure and his stories; and perhaps most importantly of all, he's honest and authentic about the ups and downs of life, the absurd number of priorities that we all face, and then presents a practical, implementable solution. Finally, this is just a fun read. It flows well, it's excellently edited, and it's a book that I recommend to anyone looking to not only better manage their time, but also to get more out of life as a whole. After all, time management is really life management!

Rory Vaden is one of my favorite business authors, his “Take The Stairs” was one of the best books I read last year. That being said, once I heard that he had a new book coming out, I knew that I’d have to get it. One funny side note, his book came out at the beginning of the year, and I procrastinated ordering it for two months, pretty ironic. I think that might have been procrastinating on purpose though, so I think I’m good…. The most valuable things I learned from this book was how to create a “Focus Funnel”. When you have a a problem, or need to make a decision, (1) see if you can eliminate it. Are you the right person to make the decision? (2) If you are the right person for the task, is this a task that you can automate? Are there tools out there that you can invest in that will save you time? (3) If you can’t automate it or eliminate it, can you delegate this task to someone else? (4) If not, is it the right timing to complete the task or make the decision? If not, then procrastinate on purpose. Set up a time at a later date to accomplish it. Move on to the next task. (5) If it passes through all of the phases, and you can’t get rid of the task, then DO it! Concentrate on that one thing, complete it, and then move on!
This book definitely wasn’t aimed at mere office surfs such as myself (definitely written more for experienced execs, high powered CEO’s, etc…), but I was able to learn a lot from it. Automation is one thing I needed to learn about. I send similar emails 5-10 times a week, which made me realize how important stock emails can be. Having to re-write the same basic email to customers every couple of days is boring, and wastes a lot of time! Anyways, great book! I have been able to apply it quite a bit already.

Simply put if you’re too busy to read this book as well as the one Rory wrote before this one — Take The Stairs, well then quite frankly you’re too busy to get the most out of your life at home, work, and other areas you say you value. It’s not just about being successful from a material perspective, it’s about learning to make the best choices that enable you to be a multiplier — someone who knows how to set the right priorities and give the right kind of attention to those priorities.

If you need help resetting your values and priorities in one or even multiple areas read this book! You’ll be inspired AND equipped with more effective ways to think and do life so you can add lasting value to the world and places that you influence. The choice is yours. I chose to Procrastinate On Purpose and Take The Stairs!

Time is a precious resource that we all have in equal measure. In his book 'Procrastinate on Purpose,' Rory Vaden shares a powerful insight: you can multiply your time by spending it on things today that will give you more time tomorrow. But how can we do that when we can't stop the clock, call a timeout, or rewind? Time management is a myth. Instead, by eliminating, automating, and delegating tasks, we can gain a larger return on the time we invest in activities. Vaden's approach to priority management is sure to resonate with anyone who finds themselves too busy in their daily life. If you're looking for a book that will help you gain control of your time and achieve more with less stress, 'Procrastinate on Purpose' may be a book for you.

It’s not another time management book. I am not a big fan of those. I believe in Folding Time™ (achieving twice as much in half the time). As a productivity expert, I want people to create more significant moments in life that matter and that’s just one of the reasons I really enjoyed Rory’s book.

His actionable ideas cause the reader to question their relationship with time and money. He provides strategies to identify significant priorities, systemization, and how to be a multiplier.

This book is a must read for anyone who agrees that time management is out the window. Our world has changed and so must our relationship with how we focus our time, attention and energy.

Procrastinate on Purpose is filled with case studies, research, studies and suggestions and yet what I enjoy most, is you can imagine Rory sharing these ideas with you because he is passionate about people creating lives they love to live. I highly recommend it for yourself as a leader and as a gift for your team. Invest in this book, hire Rory and his team – you will be so glad you did.

In his book Rory Vaden shows you how the greatest leaders in the world have figured out how to literally multiply their time giving you tools and techniques that will empower you to master your productivity. The goal of the book is to teach you how to manufacture more time into your day, become more effective at work with less stress, and how utilize procrastination to your advantage. This book was designed to be read from front to back in order to grasp the whole concept Rory is trying to portray and can be read within a day or two.

I had Rory on my podcast, The Entrepreneurs Library, to give a deep dive on Procrastinate on Purpose. With Rory’s experience he gives amazing insight on how to effectively utilize the power of procrastination to your advantage and add personal freedom to your daily schedule. I have since ordered that book but I wish I had known to read it before this one. Otherwise, I have gotten some great things from this book.
