hello Scaling UP! Nation, Trace Blackmore
here your host for Scaling UP! and folks

0:14.2

0:24.7

it is December 28 we have just three
short days remaining in 2018 and I

0:24.7

0:31.8

thought what a great opportunity to talk
about what 2018 meant to this show and

0:31.8

0:38.8

what were some things that I did in 2018
so I gotta tell you the fact that I even

0:38.8

0:46.6

have a show that people listen to amazes
me so I want to thank you for being a

0:46.6

0:51.5

listener of scaling up h2o and I also
want to thank all of those people that

0:51.5

0:59.1

have helped me make Scaling UP! H2O shows
this past year we all know that I can

0:59.1

1:04.2

only come up with so much material so
the fact that you all are calling in and

1:04.2

1:09.7

even recording your own voices asking
questions I can’t tell you how much that

1:09.7

1:15.7

has meant to me because that means we
can all have more material which means

1:15.7

1:20.6

more shows so for those of you that have
done that thank you so much for those of

1:20.6

1:26.9

you that have not done that it’s very
easy go to https://scalinguph2o.com/ and you

1:26.9

1:34.5

can click the record voice mail or you
can send a show comment to me either way

1:34.5

1:40.8

I’ll get your information and I will get
that on the show on the appropriate show

1:40.8

1:45.4

that it falls on thank you so much for
those that have done that and those of

1:45.4

1:51.4

you that are going to do this folks I
can’t believe it this is the 66th

1:51.4

1:59.9

episode of Scaling UP! so 466 times I
have come to you with something about

1:59.9

2:05.1

water treatment something about business
something that has hopefully made you a

2:05.1

2:10.5

little bit better or try something
different after you listen to the show

2:10.5

2:19.5

I cannot believe when I started this
program in April of 2017 how much things

2:19.5

2:22.7

have
changed so I thought it might be neat to

2:22.7

2:29.0

do a similar exercise that we do in our
Vistage meetings now Vistage you know is

2:29.0

2:34.2

a business group that I belong to and
Tim Fulton is my business coach tim is

2:34.2

2:39.7

retiring this year I’m gonna miss him so
much he has taught me so much not only

2:39.7

2:44.8

as a person but a facilitator and a
business owner he’s just an incredible

2:44.8

2:51.1

person you all know that because you
heard him back in episode 22 that

2:51.1

2:57.6

https://scalinguph2o.com/22
Tim came on he did a great job but he

2:57.6

3:03.1

has done a great job in helping me for
the last eight years Tim buddy we are

3:03.1

3:08.0

definitely gonna miss you but an
exercise that he has taught me is called

3:08.0

3:15.6

a skull and skull is a great meeting
opener it stands for success challenge

3:15.6

3:23.7

opportunity and lessons learned so s co
ll skull so I thought I would do a

3:23.7

3:30.7

little skull with Scaling UP! so let’s
look at the past year for Scaling UP! so

3:30.7

3:39.0

some successes for Scaling UP! is we did
39 shows this year that is amazing to me

3:39.0

3:44.9

especially from when we started and I
thought I was only going to produce one

3:44.9

3:49.7

show per month because I didn’t think I
was gonna have any other time to do this

3:49.7

3:54.5

I’ve had to learn how to change where I
spend my time in order to do a weekly

3:54.5

4:00.7

show but that has been a success that we
have thirty nine shows this year folks

4:00.7

4:05.5

this next one I want to tell you just so
humbles me we started out with just less

4:05.5

4:11.1

than five thousand subscribers at the
beginning of 2018 we are over nine

4:11.1

4:17.3

thousand subscribers to https://scalinguph2o.com/
that just blows my mind that’s a stadium

4:17.3

4:23.7

of people listening to https://scalinguph2o.com/
folks thank you so much for subscribing

4:23.7

4:30.5

to this program I love it and I love all
the energy that you guys bring to me

4:30.5

4:35.6

because it helps me do what I do better
and then of course I think the biggest

4:35.6

4:40.9

success that we have was me listening to
the Scaling UP! audience and there just

4:40.9

4:47.3

simply was not enough Scaling UP! on a
regular basis and I was asked to do a

4:47.3

4:52.5

weekly show I didn’t know if I was going
to be able to do that or not but yes we

4:52.5

4:58.0

did a weekly show this year so now
Scaling UP! the format is each and every

4:58.0

5:05.0

Friday a brand new episode goes straight
to your favorite podcast provider and I

5:05.0

5:09.6

received so much great feedback about
that saying that that is the right

5:09.6

5:14.8

amount you need something each and every
week to keep that motivation going so I

5:14.8

5:19.1

am happy to bring that to you so let’s
get into some of the challenges well the

5:19.1

5:24.0

challenge is we’re doing a weekly show
now so that means I’m going through

5:24.0

5:29.0

material faster than ever before I know
I say that on almost every episode but

5:29.0

5:35.7

that has been a huge challenge I am
going through all of the show ideas and

5:35.7

5:41.2

materials and questions at a rate that I
have never consumed it before so the

5:41.2

5:47.2

challenge is how do I replenish that how
do I find more things to talk about you

5:47.2

5:52.5

guys know I like to read a lot now when
I read I am looking for podcast ideas

5:52.5

5:57.4

when I talk to people I’m looking for a
potential podcast host I have completely

5:57.4

6:03.5

changed how I read and how I talk to
people just based on this podcast is

6:03.5

6:06.6

this person going to help me with
another episode no they’re not I want to

6:06.6

6:10.7

move to the next person oh I don’t quite
do that but I’m always looking for new

6:10.7

6:19.2

material I’ve also had the opportunity
to rethink how I produce this podcast

6:19.2

6:25.3

lots of things have changed because we
are going weekly and I’ve also found out

6:25.3

6:31.5

that I cannot do it alone I started this
podcast on my own now I have two other

6:31.5

6:36.6

people on my staff their names are Carla
and Shawn Carla she does all the

6:36.6

6:41.1

scheduling reaches out to the guest does
all the social media that a lot of you

6:41.1

6:44.8

respond to Carla you do a great job
thank you so much for everything that

6:44.8

6:49.7

you do and then Shawn is
my audio engineer and Sean is just

6:49.7

6:54.2

amazing
I don’t sound this good Sean makes me

6:54.2

6:58.6

sound like I’m halfway intelligent so
that just doesn’t happen Sean’s really

6:58.6

7:04.1

good at his job so thank you both for
everything that you allow me to do

7:04.1

7:08.8

because you’re both so good at your job
another challenge that we had this year

7:08.8

7:13.7

and my hope is you never even notice
this but because Scaling UP! was getting

7:13.7

7:19.9

more popular I was running out of
bandwidth on my old podcast server so

7:19.9

7:23.7

they kept on charging me more fees and
more fees and more fees because I would

7:23.7

7:29.1

always top that top scale on how many
people could download the episode so I

7:29.1

7:35.9

had to move from that server to another
server and again it’s my hope that you

7:35.9

7:40.8

saw that totally seamless and you didn’t
even know that we move from one to

7:40.8

7:45.5

another but I gotta tell you on the
other side of the microphone that was a

7:45.5

7:50.5

little interesting we had to do a lot of
things behind the scenes we ran two

7:50.5

7:55.8

servers at once for a while we got it
all taken care of and I got to tell you

7:55.8

8:01.3

I learned a whole bunch of things that I
should have done from the beginning that

8:01.3

8:06.8

would have made that process a whole lot
easier but we did get through it and

8:06.8

8:10.9

it’s my hope that again you guys never
even knew about it but that was a huge

8:10.9

8:15.4

challenge for us this year now that it’s
done we’re all very happy that we did it

8:15.4

8:19.9

it’s a lot easier for Matt it’s a lot
easier for us to upload items to you it

8:19.9

8:25.2

used to be a 12 step process now it’s a
one step process that just made Karla

8:25.2

8:29.9

very very happy so that was probably my
last challenge that I will mention for

8:29.9

8:35.7

the 2018 year for Scaling UP! so let’s
talk about some of the opportunities one

8:35.7

8:40.6

of the opportunities that I had but I
did not take was I was asked to speak at

8:40.6

8:48.5

a Water Expo over in China folks I was
so humbled by that unfortunately I had a

8:48.5

8:54.2

previous commitment at the AWT where I
was teaching at the technical training I

8:54.2

8:59.9

so badly wanted to go over to China that
just seems like such a great opportunity

8:59.9

9:04.6

they invited me again the following year
but I had another opportunity of course

9:04.6

9:07.9

and and you know how important the
association of Water Technologies is

9:07.9

9:14.4

also I’ve had the opportunity to enhance
the website that the listeners come to

9:14.4

9:19.4

that you the Scaling UP! Nation come to
and make it a lot easier for you to find

9:19.4

9:24.7

items a lot of you have improved your
reading list based on my reading list so

9:24.7

9:29.7

you will now see under the resources
page not only can you more easily find

9:29.7

9:36.6

the books that our guests talk about but
you’ll also find my top books in my

9:36.6

9:41.0

reading list so we’ve got a couple of
lists for you make it very easy for you

9:41.0

9:45.0

just to click on there and then that
will take you to an affiliate Amazon

9:45.0

9:48.3

link where you can order that and if
you’re a Prime member in two days that

9:48.3

9:54.3

puppy shows up on your door what did we
ever do without Amazon another great

9:54.3

9:59.5

opportunity that I had this year was I
was able to speak with one of my heroes

9:59.5

10:05.3

and you guys heard it here I’m Scaling UP! Nation it was episode 29 it was the one with

10:05.3

10:09.8

the submarine captain of course I’m
talking about captain David Marquis of

10:09.8

10:14.9

the United States Navy he wrote the book
turned the ship around and you all know

10:14.9

10:19.4

that I’m a huge fan of the 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People well Captain

10:19.4

10:24.2

Mark II wrote this book and it’s the
best application that I have ever read

10:24.2

10:30.1

using the principles learned in the 7
Habits of Highly Effective People I’ve

10:30.1

10:33.9

always thought that he was just
incredible I’ve seen him speak a couple

10:33.9

10:39.3

of times but I’ve never really spoken
directly to him so having him come on

10:39.3

10:45.0

the show was just so cool for me and I
hope you guys enjoyed that episode and

10:45.0

10:51.0

then the last opportunity is just how
many people I have met because I bought

10:51.0

10:57.5

this microphone and I have got this show
called https://scalinguph2o.com/ thank you so much

10:57.5

11:02.1

for all of you that have reached out to
me and talked about this show giving me

11:02.1

11:06.7

ideas for this show telling me things
that you have done because of this show

11:06.7

11:12.4

that is just huge and that has just been
the biggest opportunity because

11:12.4

11:18.2

we have this podcast last thing up is
lessons learned so lots of lessons

11:18.2

11:23.3

learned this year and I’m trying to
figure out the best lesson to share with

11:23.3

11:27.6

the Scaling UP! Nation of what I’ve
learned about Scaling UP! and I think

11:27.6

11:32.4

it’s just a combination of all of the
items that I just mentioned the vision

11:32.4

11:39.8

that I had for Scaling UP! matches
nothing now – when I started I thought I

11:39.8

11:45.2

was going to do a monthly podcast it was
going to have a couple of tips about

11:45.2

11:50.1

water testing and maybe talking to
customers I really didn’t know what I

11:50.1

11:56.4

was going to do with it and it has
evolved so much because you the Scaling UP! Nation

11:56.4

12:00.8

have either written in or
called or texted a lot of you even have

12:00.8

12:04.1

my cell phone numbers you called me
directly and you said hey this is what

12:04.1

12:10.9

Scaling UP! needs to be and we have made
that format to adopt what the Scaling UP!

12:10.9

12:17.3

Nation needs so I am just again so
incredibly humbled that we have so many

12:17.3

12:22.1

listeners out there and that those
listeners care enough to make this show

12:22.1

12:28.5

better and because you’re doing that I
am able to be better at doing the show

12:28.5

12:34.3

so I think the lessons learned is just
try to focus on where you’re going and

12:34.3

12:40.9

make sure you have metrics to see that
you get there but don’t be so tied to

12:40.9

12:44.8

something that you can’t change for the
better and I don’t think I was ever

12:44.8

12:50.4

there but because I had so many good
friends and listeners that would call me

12:50.4

12:56.1

and let me know what this show should do
I am very proud of what this show is now

12:56.1

13:00.1

and that is because of all of those
people like I said I started off doing

13:00.1

13:04.0

this myself I’ve got two additional
people on the Scaling UP! staff we were a

13:04.0

13:09.8

monthly podcast we’re now a weekly
podcast and I gotta tell you that when I

13:09.8

13:14.6

go back actually did this this morning
in preparation for this show I listened

13:14.6

13:20.2

to episode number one and that was
before I had just ordered my microphone

13:20.2

13:24.8

actually I just placed the order on
Amazon I get everything from Amazon and

13:24.8

13:27.8

it
come yet but I needed to get an episode

13:27.8

13:33.2

out there so iTunes could accept it and
I just used my headset to record it and

13:33.2

13:39.0

now I listen to how I am today and Sean
again thank you for making me sound so

13:39.0

13:44.2

much better than I really do sound but
you can just hear how the show has taken

13:44.2

13:50.2

on its own identity and I had no idea
that that was going to happen when I

13:50.2

13:57.8

first turned my headset on back I
believe it was April 4th of 2017 so

13:57.8

14:03.9

lesson learned and I’m gonna continue
learning lessons a lot of you write in

14:03.9

14:08.6

to me and say that I inspire you to
either read more or try something more

14:08.6

14:14.6

or rethink the ways that you’ve always
done something so with that in mind I

14:14.6

14:19.4

thought I would take you through some of
the accomplishments that I’ve had in

14:19.4

14:24.0

2018 now I do this not to be
braggadocious at all I’m a very humble

14:24.0

14:28.9

person I do this because I hope that
this motivates you and allows you to

14:28.9

14:32.9

know what I’m thinking about and maybe
you can start thinking about things that

14:32.9

14:41.0

you can do for the 2019 year so one of
my goals is to read and we all have

14:41.0

14:45.5

difficulty reading because we’re in our
cars and you know that my favorite tool

14:45.5

14:49.3

is audible you also know that I can get
you a free month and a free book by

14:49.3

14:54.2

going to my affiliate link for audible
at https://scalinguph2o.com/audible

14:54.2

15:01.1

and I listen to a bunch of
audible I am always buying extra credits

15:01.1

15:06.6

on audible and folks they have sales on
those on occasions so last time I had a

15:06.6

15:12.4

little pop-up on my phone I think I was
able to get three credits for like $25

15:12.4

15:18.2

normally a credit is 10 to $15 something
like that so if you ever see that and

15:18.2

15:22.1

you’re a big reader take advantage of
that that’s what I try to do so I have

15:22.1

15:28.6

read or listened to 44 books this year
and some of them were better than others

15:28.6

15:34.2

every single one of them though I
promise I have implemented at least one

15:34.2

15:37.7

thing from each of them and that’s my
goal when I

15:37.7

15:42.7

and I don’t read a lot of fiction I
don’t read any fiction in fact I want to

15:42.7

15:45.8

read something that’s gonna help me with
my business it’s gonna help me be a

15:45.8

15:50.5

better business owner it’s gonna help me
be a better boss a better team leader

15:50.5

15:55.3

it’s gonna help me in the field or
communicate better those are the things

15:55.3

16:02.0

that I enjoy reading and maybe I’m just
not wired right I truly do enjoy reading

16:02.0

16:08.1

stuff like that and my goal is to take
at least one thing from each of those

16:08.1

16:13.9

books and start implementing it in fact
one of the books that I read was called

16:13.9

16:19.8

the one thing and I can’t remember the
author’s name but in it he said that we

16:19.8

16:24.6

really shouldn’t multitask and that
really upset me I remember thinking that

16:24.6

16:29.6

I have made an entire life on
multitasking and the whole premise of

16:29.6

16:36.1

that was when you multitask you can’t
give your best effort to any one thing

16:36.1

16:42.3

because it’s spread apart through so
many things so I’m still a multitasker

16:42.3

16:48.7

but I have also found out that when I am
working on something that really needs

16:48.7

16:53.4

to be done superbly well or I need to do
something quickly

16:53.4

16:58.3

I can’t multitask and that book really
helped me with that it also helped me to

16:58.3

17:02.3

cut out some of the things that I was
doing that I probably shouldn’t have

17:02.3

17:07.1

been doing not that they were bad but
other people were able to do them better

17:07.1

17:11.7

than I could and then that freed me up
to do the things that I was really good

17:11.7

17:15.9

at so that was an example of something
that I took from one of those books and

17:15.9

17:19.9

of course I share on this podcast a lot
of things that I take from those books I

17:19.9

17:24.7

also joined a mastermind group we might
have talked a lot about a mastermind

17:24.7

17:28.7

group on a previous episode the term
mastermind comes from Think and Grow

17:28.7

17:36.2

Rich by Napoleon Hill that is an older
book it is a really awesome read for

17:36.2

17:40.1

anybody who’s in business for anybody
who works with people I think for

17:40.1

17:45.7

anybody who does anything it is a great
read that’s definitely dated a little

17:45.7

17:51.4

bit but if you read it it could have
been written today just with some old

17:51.4

17:59.2

language and he talks in that book about
how people have to get together and talk

17:59.2

18:03.7

about what’s going on with them what
they need help with how others can help

18:03.7

18:09.2

them and that’s what a mastermind group
is I gotta tell you I have been a member

18:09.2

18:14.9

of mine for about four months now and
just being able to talk to other men

18:14.9

18:19.4

about what’s going on we’re in a men’s
group of course there are female groups

18:19.4

18:23.7

that are mastermind groups but I don’t
have access to those obviously I don’t

18:23.7

18:27.2

want to leave anybody out that’s why I
said that but anyway that has helped me

18:27.2

18:32.6

so much and there’s an accountability
portion with that so when I say I’m

18:32.6

18:37.4

going to do something
those guys hold me accountable that I am

18:37.4

18:42.3

going to do it they also give me really
good feedback based on things that they

18:42.3

18:47.2

know that I’ve done before and how I’ve
reacted before and they have no problem

18:47.2

18:52.6

calling me out when they know I’m giving
them a line now the only investment they

18:52.6

18:57.8

have is they want to see me do better so
how cool is that to enter a room of

18:57.8

19:03.2

people that are just there to make you
better and you’re there to make them

19:03.2

19:07.9

better so maybe you should look into
that mastermind if that’s not a term

19:07.9

19:12.0

that you’re familiar with and Napoleon
Hills Think and Grow Rich is a really

19:12.0

19:17.4

good read as well something that I do
and I did this a couple times this year

19:17.4

19:20.6

and I thought I was the only one that
did it but then I read a book that I’m

19:20.6

19:25.1

just getting ready to tell you about so
I personally will reach out to people

19:25.1

19:29.3

that I just think are really cool and I
want to get to know and I’ll just call

19:29.3

19:33.8

him up or write him a letter and say hey
you know I really admire you I’d like to

19:33.8

19:38.4

meet you for lunch or I’d like to talk
with you and that’s actually what I did

19:38.4

19:42.7

with Captain Dave and Mark a there was
no reason for him to talk to me but I

19:42.7

19:47.2

went ahead and made that introduction
off of a cold call he was gracious

19:47.2

19:51.7

enough to have a great conversation with
me and then of course was scheduled him

19:51.7

19:56.9

on the podcast well one of the books
I’ve read recently and folks this book

19:56.9

20:02.7

was hilarious there’s some language in
it but it was just so funny Jesse it’s

20:02.7

20:07.5

leur who
Serah Blakely’s husband Sara Blakely is

20:07.5

20:12.0

real famous here in Atlanta she invented
Spanx I’ve never seen a pair but I

20:12.0

20:17.2

understand they’re pantyhose without
legs anyway her husband owns a company

20:17.2

20:22.2

and I think it was net jet don’t quote
me on that and anyway it was how does

20:22.2

20:27.4

the common folk fly privately he came up
with that solution where you could buy

20:27.4

20:32.3

like twenty five hours on a plane and of
course that’s way above my price range

20:32.3

20:36.5

but other people have taken advantage of
that and he has been very successful

20:36.5

20:41.0

with that he also owns the Falcons here
in Atlanta or he’s a part owner with

20:41.0

20:47.1

that really awesome entrepreneur in his
own right well he wrote a book called

20:47.1

20:55.5

living with seal and he hired a Navy
SEAL to train him for 30 days and that

20:55.5

21:00.1

book was just hilarious but in that book
he said he does the exact same thing

21:00.1

21:04.3

he’ll find somebody that he admires and
he’ll just go out and say hey I’d like

21:04.3

21:07.4

to meet you
so I’m actually gonna reach out to Jesse

21:07.4

21:11.7

it’s lura and see if I can meet him he
does live here in Atlanta so I’ll let

21:11.7

21:16.7

the Scaling UP! Nation know how that goes
the reason I actually read that book was

21:16.7

21:22.0

I started working with a personal
trainer this year and he recommended

21:22.0

21:26.9

that I read living with seal so I
wouldn’t think that he was so bad but

21:26.9

21:30.1

folks here’s the thing you might not
know this about me I’m a diabetic and

21:30.1

21:37.0

I’m on a couple of medications for being
diabetic and because I’m eating better

21:37.0

21:42.6

than I have ever eaten before and
because I am working out it looks like

21:42.6

21:49.1

I’m gonna be able to come off of at
least one if not both of my diabetic

21:49.1

21:54.2

medications so that is huge again I’m
just sharing all these wins with you

21:54.2

22:01.1

because I’m hoping that this inspires
you to do something great in 2019

22:01.1

22:07.1

something else I’m really truly proud of
is I helped four other water treatment

22:07.1

22:12.4

companies practice water treatment
better so what I’ll do is I’ll go out as

22:12.4

22:17.1

a consultant and we’ll play games like
let’s see if I can steal the business

22:17.1

22:20.2

away from you now
I really don’t but what I want to do is

22:20.2

22:25.0

take them through my process and if
there are any cracks in their program

22:25.0

22:31.3

isn’t it better for me to tell you that
than for a competitor to come in and

22:31.3

22:35.9

tell your customer that so that’s one of
my favorite things to do and I did that

22:35.9

22:41.9

with four other companies this year and
folks it’s interesting to me that a lot

22:41.9

22:46.3

of people get into the water treatment
industry and your fabulous water

22:46.3

22:52.2

treaters but we don’t do a lot to learn
how to be fabulous business owners and

22:52.2

22:56.8

that’s something I try to help people
with a lot of people don’t realize how a

22:56.8

23:01.4

balance sheet works how a profit and
loss statement works how a cash flow

23:01.4

23:05.6

statement works a lot of people in the
water treatment industry will just run

23:05.6

23:10.4

their business from their checking
account one of my huge successes is when

23:10.4

23:15.0

an owner calls me back after I’ve worked
with them and they’ve actually been able

23:15.0

23:21.2

to figure out what their business is
doing in a way that allows them to make

23:21.2

23:26.2

decisions because they’re actually using
their financial data so don’t be ashamed

23:26.2

23:30.6

if you don’t know that folks were water
treaters we are very good at what we do

23:30.6

23:36.5

many of us just simply were not trained
to read these cash flow statements

23:36.5

23:41.3

piell’s and balance sheets but that is a
simple tool and you can learn how to do

23:41.3

23:45.2

that as well
so anyway all four of these companies

23:45.2

23:50.3

have called me back and said that their
businesses are running better their

23:50.3

23:55.7

people are happier and I am just so
happy that I was able to work with these

23:55.7

24:00.5

guys and make their companies just a
little bit better and again it wasn’t me

24:00.5

24:06.0

I didn’t do anything but point a couple
of items out it was them that did

24:06.0

24:10.8

everything another one of the successes
that I’ve had this year is I have spoken

24:10.8

24:16.5

at six separate events and I’ve been
able to meet a lot of new people in the

24:16.5

24:20.9

Scaling UP! Nation I’ve been able to get
a lot of new information to put on

24:20.9

24:24.3

Scaling UP!
but I really enjoy speaking in front of

24:24.3

24:30.2

audiences and I really feel that every
time I get in front of people and I

24:30.2

24:35.1

speak I become
a better speaker and one of the tools

24:35.1

24:38.6

that I use from the seven Habits of
Highly Effective People I know you’ve

24:38.6

24:43.5

heard me talk about this is third-person
teaching when I want to learn something

24:43.5

24:49.3

and somebody’s teaching it to me I don’t
envision myself as a student I envision

24:49.3

24:54.3

myself is the next generation teaching
this so this person’s teaching me and

24:54.3

24:59.7

I’m immediately in my mind thinking of
how I can teach this to somebody else so

24:59.7

25:04.1

when there’s a call for papers on a
local organization here in Atlanta I

25:04.1

25:09.7

normally submit that on any of these new
topics that I want to learn more about

25:09.7

25:15.1

because it is going to pressure me to
anticipate the questions that are going

25:15.1

25:19.7

to come from the audience so I can
answer those intelligently and get the

25:19.7

25:24.8

information that the listener now the
new students need so they can go out and

25:24.8

25:30.0

practice that earlier this year you
heard from one of my friends one of our

25:30.0

25:36.7

customers David vince’s he was episode
56 that’s https://scalinguph2o.com/56

25:36.7

25:42.5

and in that episode I shared
with you that David and I were co-chairs

25:42.5

25:48.3

of the BTO committee and BTO stands
for a Building Trade Organization and it

25:48.3

25:55.6

is the committee that the building
engineers all belong to and we’re trying

25:55.6

25:59.6

to figure out how to better educate the
engineers what information to the

25:59.6

26:06.1

engineers need to know on upcoming code
changes and stuff like that well just a

26:06.1

26:10.2

few short weeks ago I received a phone
call from the new BOMA president and

26:10.2

26:15.1

they asked if I would chair that
committee this year now I told them that

26:15.1

26:19.5

I was not a building owner or manager
and I wanted to make sure that they knew

26:19.5

26:23.4

that she told me they did know that but
they were really impressed with what I

26:23.4

26:27.9

had done the previous year folks I’m
part of a team I’m just I’m just doing

26:27.9

26:33.7

what the team’s doing nothing straight
for me with that said I am the first

26:33.7

26:40.5

vendor member if you will to ever chair
a committee in BOMA Georgia so I am

26:40.5

26:44.1

extremely humbled from that and if you
remember from that

26:44.1

26:48.1

episode 56 David was giving me a hard
time because that wasn’t really the

26:48.1

26:52.5

first that I was the co-chair and I was
a vendor member well he confirmed for me

26:52.5

26:58.4

I am the first chair as a vendor member
so I’m really really proud of that

26:58.4

27:02.4

something that’s totally out of my
comfort zone that I’ve done this years

27:02.4

27:06.9

I’ve started working with kids at my
church in fact I went to camp with 20

27:06.9

27:13.0

kids that I was responsible for folks
these were twenty twelve year olds and I

27:13.0

27:17.8

gotta tell you for three days I was a 12
year old that was some of the most fun

27:17.8

27:23.1

that I have had in a long time
water balloon fights tug of war they

27:23.1

27:27.4

have this thing where you jump off this
pier it’s called the blob and it kind of

27:27.4

27:33.3

launches you into the lake it was just
amazing I had a great time I’m looking

27:33.3

27:39.2

forward to doing it next year as well
and I think above all else the thing

27:39.2

27:44.3

that I’m most proud of this year is how
many people I’ve said this before how

27:44.3

27:51.3

many people I was able to meet because
of https://scalinguph2o.com/ and when people come

27:51.3

27:55.6

up to me and say that they are a better
water treater because they’re now

27:55.6

27:59.5

listening to the show and they were
doing the same thing over and over again

27:59.5

28:04.7

but now they’re thinking about things
differently and they are able to do

28:04.7

28:09.6

things just a little bit differently and
that gets them to the next level or when

28:09.6

28:13.7

people come up and say I’m committed to
get my certified water technologist

28:13.7

28:19.2

designation or whatever designation that
fits your specific market that you’re in

28:19.2

28:25.4

and water treatment that makes me feel
so awesome because one of my goals

28:25.4

28:30.3

actually my ultimate goal is to make the
industry better and folks when you do

28:30.3

28:34.8

something like get certified you are
committing yourself to the industry and

28:34.8

28:40.6

that makes the industry better so I want
to thank all of you that have done that

28:40.6

28:44.8

this year a hundred and forty five I
don’t have the number right in front of

28:44.8

28:50.0

me people have taken the CWT challenge I
know for a fact that 15 people have

28:50.0

28:54.2

reached out to me and said they either
gotten their CWT or they’re getting

28:54.2

28:57.6

ready to take their exam by the time
this show airs

28:57.6

29:03.5

so folks thank you so much for doing
that and I really appreciate you

29:03.5

29:08.5

allowing me to be part of that story I
thought the next thing we would do it be

29:08.5

29:13.2

a little fun to look at some of the
items that are either predicted to

29:13.2

29:18.0

happen next year or the items that are
going to happen next year so this is

29:18.0

29:21.5

from a site called quantum run and
that’s what they do is they predict

29:21.5

29:29.4

things so coming up what we can look
forward to in 2019 5g will replace 4G so

29:29.4

29:34.5

we’ll start seeing our laptops and our
phones start being able to accept those

29:34.5

29:37.5

I’m not sure if that means we’re gonna
have to get new equipment it probably

29:37.5

29:43.7

does GM will release their own version
of self-driving cars and folks it’s

29:43.7

29:50.7

finally here season eight of Game of
Thrones will be released in 2018 I know

29:50.7

29:54.7

we’ve all been waiting for that that is
the most mentioned show on Scaling UP! I

29:54.7

29:58.8

think and then here’s something that was
very interesting Harley Davidson will

29:58.8

30:03.7

release their first electric motorcycle
it’s gonna be called the live-wire the

30:03.7

30:06.6

whole thing about Harley’s is how cool
they sound I’m not sure how they’re

30:06.6

30:10.3

gonna get that with the electric version
and then Volvo has committed that

30:10.3

30:14.9

they’re gonna continue manufacturing
their existing models but any new models

30:14.9

30:18.7

are all going to be electric that’s
really interesting

30:18.7

30:25.0

folding cell phones are gonna make a
comeback in 2019 and the internet will

30:25.0

30:31.9

actually take over TV in terms of
minutes consumed in a day so more people

30:31.9

30:37.3

will spend time on the internet than
they do watching television in 2019

30:37.3

30:43.6

we’re also looking to expect an economic
recession during the first couple of

30:43.6

30:49.5

quarters in 2019 so those of you that
have read business magazines such as Inc

30:49.5

30:53.8

you have been expecting this because
several people have been forecasting

30:53.8

31:00.6

that we would see a recession in 2019
and then I saved the best for last Star

31:00.6

31:09.0

Wars Episode nine is being released in
2019 folks I hope you take a couple of

31:09.0

31:12.9

moments
to think about how you’re going to be

31:12.9

31:19.4

better in 2019 and what are some of the
accomplishments that you can make in the

31:19.4

31:26.1

2019 year that are going to allow you to
be better take a moment write those down

31:26.1

31:30.6

share that with somebody have them do
the same thing hold each other

31:30.6

31:35.9

accountable and then celebrate it when
you get it done folks this has been a

31:35.9

31:42.4

great year for me so thanks so much for
helping me get this year to be so great

31:42.4

31:49.1

and thank you for continuing to listen
in 2019 we’re gonna get 2019 started off

31:49.1

31:56.9

great I will see you next year folks
